| "I'd love to be an artist, but I can't draw a straight line." How many times have you heard that statement? Well I can draw a straight line, using a ruler, but I can't draw much else. I drew a picture in an art class I attended years ago, and was told by the instructor that it was the most unusual rendering of a dog that she had ever seen. Since it was intended to be a horse drawn carriage I knew immediately that I wasn't going to receive a call from the curator of The Museum of Modern Art to discuss hanging my work.
My father, Vincent (no relation to Van Gogh), was a pretty good sketch artist, but unfortunately I did not inherit his skills. He was also an amateur photographer however, and taught me at an early age to compose pictures, and to develop and print film.
I learned some things about photography on my own too, such as, never show a photo of a woman to anyone until after the subject sees and approves it.
So I resumed taking photographs and every now and then one of them ain't too bad, and I thought I'd share a few with you. |
